Gov. McDonnell Holds ‘Road to Ending Homelessness’ Press Conference at SJV

St. Joseph’s Villa had the honor of welcoming Governor McDonnell to our campus on June 24, 2013 for his Road to Ending Homelessness Press Conference.  During the press conference, the Governor announced a 16% decline in homelessness throughout Virginia over the last three years.  He attributed much of the success to rapid re-housing and cited St. Joseph’s Villa as a state leader in reducing homelessness.

Today (July 1, 2013), the Villa’s Flagler Housing & Homeless Services completes its three-year transition to the rapid re-housing model.  Learn more in our press release.

Quanasia Harrison, whose family was among the first to be rapidly re-housed by Flagler in 2010, spoke about her experience at the conference.  Of the 30 families rapidly re-housed three years ago, 97% have stayed in permanent housing to this day.
