SJV, longest continuously operating children’s nonprofit, turns 180 years old

On November 25, 1834, three courageous Daughters of Charity stepped off of a steamboat at Rockett's Landing with a purpose --Richmond was overwhelmed with orphaned and impoverished children living on the city streets. The Daughters answered the call for help by founding an orphanage and school in a thirty by forty foot church at Fourth and Marshall Streets to provide these children with shelter and care. Villa Early Autism services are changing the game

Today 1 in every 68 children is diagnosed with autism.  While the increasing rate of autism is alarming, there is hope. Lifelong differences can be made in a child's social, behavioral and cognitive skills with early detection of treatment. Flagler introduces rapid re-housing to local delegates

Virginia Delegates Rosalyn Dance (D-Petersburg) and Riley Ingram (R-Hopewell) visited the Housing Resource Center in Petersburg to learn from our Flagler staff and the Virginia Coalition to End Homelessness (VCEH) how rapid re-housing has proven to be an effective model in reducing homelessness.
